Instructions

  • Whisk the Sauce
  • In a small bowl, combine chicken stock, soy sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, and black pepper. Stir until the sugar dissolves and everything is well-blended.
  • Sear the Chicken
  • Warm 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat. Add the cubed chicken, cooking until it turns golden and is just cooked through (about 5–6 minutes). Transfer the chicken to a separate plate.
  • Stir-Fry Veggies
  • In the same pan, pour in the remaining oil. Toss in broccoli florets, onion slices, and mushrooms. Sauté for around 4–5 minutes or until the broccoli is bright green and the onions are slightly softened.
  • Combine & Simmer
  • Return the chicken to the pan. Pour the prepared sauce over everything, stirring to coat evenly. Let the mixture simmer for a minute or two, allowing the sauce to thicken and cling to the chicken and veggies.
  • Serve Hot
  • Once the sauce has reached your desired consistency, remove from heat. Plate your Sizzling Chicken Broccoli on steamed rice or noodles. Enjoy while it’s nice and warm!

Notes

For a vegetarian version, simply replace the chicken with firm tofu or chickpeas and use vegetable stock instead of chicken.
You can add extras like carrots, bell peppers, or snap peas for more variety.
